Green Gate Farms was founded in 1992 near the small town of Augusta, Missouri, just 45 minutes from St. Louis, sitting on hundreds of beautiful acres covered with open fields and mature forests. The rolling hills and fertile soil provide an ideal growing environment.

For the first phase of development, thousands of deciduous trees were planted, including oak, cypress, maple and redbud. The trees that were planted in 1993 are now mature park grade quality, ranging in diameter from two inches to over nine inches.

For the second phase, we built a state of the art greenhouse facility to concentrate on the production of high quality plants. The greenhouse was completed in 1994. Specializing only in groundcovers, perennials, and ornamental grasses has allowed us to focus our energy in developing new growing techniques to insure the best quality plants possible. In addition, we provide a contract growing service for customers with special landscape needs such as green roofs and green walls.

Recently, Green Gate Farms became the exclusive Licensed LiveRoof® Grower and regional distributor for the St. Louis & surrounding area for LiveRoof®'s Invisible Hybrid Green Roof system. In 2010, we planted over 18,000 square feet in specially designed sedum beds to grow nineteen different types of sedum for the Hybrid modules.

Green Gate Farms has grown into a strong reliable company that continues to address the needs of our customers while never abandoning our commitment to produce plants with consistent quality. We serve a diverse customer base, which includes landscapers, garden centers, and wholesale plant distributors.
