Hosta sieboldiana 'Big Daddy'

Plantain Lily

'Big Daddy' is a hosta that lives up to its name with huge 15-inch very blue-grey foliage that exhibits deep texturing and is a wonderful selection for developing a background for bright colors in the landscape. Also known as Funkia, or Plantain Lily, this hybrid Hosta produces trumpet-shaped flowers from white to lilac in the summer.

The genus name Hosta is after the Austrian physician & botanist Nicholas Host (1761-1834).

Most hostas prefer semi-shade, especially in the hot afternoon. 'Big Daddy' has good slug resistance.
