Hosta plantaginea 'Guacamole'
Plantain Lily
This hosta boasts awesome flower power! Guacamole has incredible fragrant blossoms of snow white in mid-summer which contrast beautifully with its light green foliage that has a darker green margin. This variety of hosta, also known as Funkia or Plantain Lily, is very sun tolerant and its leaf centers become brighter gold in the summer while the margins remain dark green. The trumpet-like blooms appear on scapes 36 inches high above the foliage which makes 'Guacamole' a magnet for hummingbirds and a must-have for the shade or semi-shade garden!
Additional:
The genus name Hosta is after the Austrian physician & botanist Nicholas Host (1761-1834).
