Hosta fortunei 'Wide Brim'

Plantain Lily

The broad, corrugated, heart-shaped leaves of 'Wide Brim' Hosta are dark green with wide, irregular margins of buttery yellow. While most are not grown for their flowers, this variety of hosta, also known as Plantain Lily or Funkia, has especially attractive trumpet-shaped blooms of pale lavender appearing in early summer. Not only eye-catching, 'Wide Brim' is perfect for mass planting and attracts hummingbirds.

The genus name Hosta is after the Austrian physician & botanist Nicholas Host (1761-1834).
