Rudbeckia fulgida var. speciosa 'Viette's Little Suzy'

Black-eyed Susan

Rudbeckia 'Viette's Little Suzy' is an upright, free-blooming coneflower featuring daisy-like flowers with yellow rays and dark brownish-purple center disks. Prolific flower production over a long mid-summer-to-fall bloom period. The blooms are slightly smaller than those of full-sized Susans and the foliage turns purple in fall. In our test gardens, it is only slightly smaller than Rudbeckia 'Goldsturm' but has a star-shaped flower bloom for added interest.

A North American native, Black-eyed Susan inhabits grasslands and prairies, so it grows best in sites with rich soil and full sun. This fine perennial looks best when massed in mixed borders with other sun-loving perennials and ornamental grasses. Attracts butterflies, bees, and other pollinators and the dry, black, button-like seedheads of this plant may be left uncut to provide winter interest and seed for birds.

Black-eyed Susan Growing and Maintenance Tips:

Easily grown in average, dry to medium, well-drained soil in full sun. Tolerates hot and humid summers and some drought.
