Heuchera americana 'Chocolate Veil'
Coral Bells
The large, cocoa-colored leaves of Heuchera ‘Chocolate Veil’ are overlaid with a delicate, silvery purple making this perennial a striking addition to the garden. Its grown for its low, wide mounds of rich foliage but in late spring to early summer, ‘Chocolate Veil’ produces a subtle display of small, creamy, bell-shaped flowers held on numerous, thin stems. Mulching is important to keep cool and moist. Very nice as an edging plant!
Additional:
Heuchera can be grown under Black Walnut trees.
Coral Bells Growing and Maintenance Tips:
Best grown in organically rich, humusy, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. In the St. Louis area, best foliage color may occur in sunny spots with part afternoon shade. If grown in full sun, consistent moisture is particularly important. Divide clumps in spring every 3-4 years. Do not trim back leaves in fall, but tidy up in the spring if necessary.
