Echinacea 'Supreme Cantaloupe'

Coneflower

Echinacea 'Supreme Cantaloupe' features double flowers of coral and shrimp-pink with rosy-copper ray petals. Flowers first open with single melon-colored petals accented with a large brown cone, that gradually develops secondary petals creating a fully double cantaloupe-colored flower. Lovely fragrance. Plant habit is well-branched, strong and bushy. Ideal for sunny borders and growing in mixed containers. Excellent for cutting. Attractive to butterflies. Coneflowers begin blooming in midsummer and continue for months if faded flowers are regularly removed. Leaving some spent blooms on the plants in the fall will provide food for wintering birds.

Coneflower Growing and Maintenance Tips:

Easily grown in average, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soil in full sun. Best in full sun. A very adaptable plant that is tolerant of drought, heat, humidity and poor soil. Divide clumps when they become overcrowded. Plants rebloom well without deadheading, however prompt removal of spent flowers encourages continued bloom and improves general appearance. The last blooms of the season can be left to seed for small birds in the winter.
