Grass, Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Hameln'
Grass, Dwarf Fountain
Dwarf Fountain Grass offers arching, deep green foliage in a compact growth habit. One of the most versatile of all ornamental grasses, it is also one of the most popular Pennisetum cultivars. The 'Hameln' variety has leaves that are deep green in summer, changing to orange-bronze in fall and eventually to beige in late fall. Foliage usually remains attractive throughout the winter. Showy, silvery to pinkish-white, wheat-like tufts arch outward from the clump in late summer. Flower spikes turn brownish as the seed forms, and persist until late fall.
A trouble-free and reliable garden plant, 'Hameln' works well as an accent or in mass plantings.
Grass, Dwarf Fountain Growing and Maintenance Tips:
This warm season grass prefers medium to wet soils in full sun. Cut foliage to the ground in late winter before new shoots appear.
