Grass, Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Karl Foerster'
Grass, Feather Reed
Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Karl Foerster' or Feather Reed Grass has a strict upright habit with golden wheat-like plumes that appear in spring until fall. At first, they are feathery and pinkish in color, then as the weather gets warmer, they become very narrow, gradually turning a wheaten color that lasts through the fall. The stems grow upright and stand up well through summer and into winter. 'Karl Foerster' does not become invasive because the seeds are sterile.
One of the attractive features of this grass is that it moves gracefully with the breeze and its narrow growth habit makes 'Karl Foerster' a perfect tall grass for tight spaces. Fast-growing for use as an informal hedge or screen.
