Grass, Miscanthus sinensis 'Gracillimus'
Grass, Maiden
Miscanthus sinensis 'Gracillimus', or Maiden Grass, has narrow leaves with white variegation and a vase-like form reaching 6 feet tall. In the fall, the grass turns a nice yellowish-bronze to straw-colored and stands throughout winter to provide architectural interest. Tiny reddish-copper, tassel-like fronds appear in fall and can be used as cut or dried flowers. The plumes gradually turn silvery-white as the seeds mature. Blooms later than most Miscanthus cultivars.
'Gracillimus' is an old and very popular cultivar.
