Blazing Star

Liatris spicata, also known as Blazing Star or Gayfeather, is a tall, upright, clump-forming perennial featuring spikes of rounded, fluffy, deep purple flower heads appearing atop erect, leafy stalks. One or more stalks arise from a tuft of narrow, grass-like leaves. A Southern Missouri native that is drought tolerant, attracts butterflies and bees, and makes excellent cut flowers.

Blazing Star Growing and Maintenance Tips:

Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils in full sun. Generally performs better in moist soils but is intolerant of wet soils in winter.
